SUMMARY

The Senior Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients using the principles and practices of physical therapy and in accordance with the patient’s age, developmental level, and diagnosis. Has advanced clinical skills development and supports management duties. Provides technical guidance and expertise to physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. May be assigned to inpatient physical therapy, outpatient clinics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Industrial Rehabilitation Center, Home Health, Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Injury Center, or the continuing care unit.

-Experience in an outpatient sports medicine/orthopedic setting-PREFERRED
-Board certification in orthopedics or sports and/or specialty certifications (or on a track)-PREFERRED

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Evaluates patients, establishes goals, and develops individualized treatment plans as prescribed by a licensed physician/practitioner.
    • Provides direct patient treatment based on current physical therapy practice and revises treatment plan based on the patient's response.
    • Provides education to patient and family/caregiver regarding patient abilities and need for assistance and continued therapeutic intervention.
    • Recommends modification or changes in the patient's treatment program to the referring physician based on evaluation of progress. Confers as necessary with physician(s) concerning alternatives available.
    • Prepares written/computer documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree is required. Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy in accordance with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education required. Three years of experience as a Physical Therapist is required.

 

Master’s and/or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from approved school of Physical Therapy is preferred.

 

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word).

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current State of Illinois license in Physical Therapy and current CPR certification.
